The Masoods were like that as we saw them one by one rather than turning up in a removal van like the Slaters.
Yes the Masoods all appeared separately before the reveal that they were one family. Zainab was Denise's boss at the post office. Masood appeared as the post man who clashed with Kevin, and Tamwar appeared as a school friend of Libby's.
I remember at the same time there was an elderly Asian lady character who was Billy and Honey's landlord. I thought she was going to be revealed as the grandmother, the same way the others were all linked up, but she never was.

did Tracey in EE get a intro? or has she always just been around?
The Square was constructed around her. She's always been there, she will always be there.

She is the Square incarnate.

William Tarmey, who started out as a backing singer. Used to appear as an extra in the Rovers Return. He appeared, speaking, when him and Vera were offered a payment by their landlord to leave. He approached Councillor Alf Roberts for advice about his rights and housing. He, and Vera, took the money and bought one of the houses in Coronation Street.

Hollyoaks did similar with the Chen-Williams, all coming in at different times and eventually meeting up for Christmas.

The Dingles surely?
They were meant to have been in the Village the whole time and we just hadn't seen them previously, right?
I think Zak once stated that The Dingles have lived in Wishing Well Cottage for hundreds of years.

Travis from H&A in the 90s just appeared. Similarly, Rob in H&A disappeared with no exit storyline but still got referenced for about 18 months after he left!
I thought of Travis when I saw the thread title! He just appeared one day, people knew him and we were meant to believe he had lived in Summer Bay all his life, just not on camera 😂

I'd have to recheck this, but according to Corriepedia, the Ogdens first episode recording in 1964 was cancelled due to a strike, so they were already in the Street, when their first episode eventually aired.

Am i right in saying the Dingles just appeared one day and it was established they had been in the village for years but had only just appeared?

Yes but it was said that they had been inactive/not in the era for years.
Plus they didn't drink at the Woolpack.

It is interesting to think that all the soaps could do this easily. EastEnders has a ton of people walking the Square, for example.

To be honest I like a lot of the low key first appearances where it's implied the characters have been around for a while, rather than the dramatic entrances.
I remember Danniella Westbrook's first appearance was a cameo going past Den on roller skates.
Is there any reason to believe that couldn't be Sam? Or was that a significant time before the Mitchells were around? -

Can anyone think of some other Corrie ones?
Where they just sort of started to appear?

Poppy Meadow in EE - Just randomly sitting and talking to Jodie in the pub. Very random.
Tiffany Mitchell - just turns up at a party Bianca is holding. She just seemed like another random one episode character. No way of knowing how big she would become.
Lisa Fowler - appeared as a market inspector. Again there was no way of knowing she was going to be as big as she was.
The Fox's - Of what I remember Chelsea just appeared working in a video shop (or some form of shop). Libby just randomly appeared on the market. It was only Denise that had a proper entrance (shouting at Kevin because she thought he was sleeping with Chelsea).

What about Leyla in Emmerdale?
The first time I noticed her was when she was working in Pollard's factory & she started asking for the keys, so she could make an early start at work, but we found she was sleeping there, as she had no home to go to.
